TOUCHES OF SWEET HARMONY

A mélange of a-cappella choral arrangements including songs from stage and screen, carols and folk-songs. Most were written in the 1990s or 2000s for the successful Yorkshire vocal ensemble "Quintessential". I used to bark the tenor line in a S A T B B dream team. The group's inspiration was undoubtedly The King's Singers with whom I fell in love one Christmas in the late 70s as they sang Peter Knight's lush arrangement of "The Christmas Song" on TV. Much of the 80s was spent following them around UK concert halls and learning the craft of ensemble singing, presentation and arranging. I learnt a lot. Thank you, King's Singers and your host of top-class arrangers !

Everybody knows and loves the Willcocks arrangement of ‘Tomorrow shall be my dancing day’ for the very good reason that it is very good. The arranger who decides to produce a different version is either brave or foolish. Let us commend Gareth Reaks for his great courage in giving us an arrangement that is subtle, colourful, nimble and witty. Choirs will love rehearsing and performing this.
Jeremy Jackman, former 1st counter-tenor with The King's Singers
